Private, Co. A, 20th Regiment, Michigan Volunteer Infantry. Enlisted August 4, 1862, enrolled August 20, 1862, discharged February 9, 1863 at Convalescent Camp, Alexandria, Virginia. He had been sick 60 days with diarrehea and functional heart disease and disease of the lungs and unable to stand duty. In November of 1862, he had been left sick at Waterford, Virginia.
He had volunteered to serve in the Army for 3 years, bounty paid was $25. He mustered in Jackson, Michigan.
He was described as 5'9-1/2", dark complexion, gray eyes and brown hair.
Rescome died of typhoid pneumonia December 6, 1883. He was 47 years, 10 months, 6 days old.
He first married Mary R. Dewey, who died in childbirth.
He then married Eliza Jane Woodland (1852 - 1922)
