Richard Greeley (Frenchy) Marinel, age 85 of DeRidder, LA passed from this life December 12, 2010 at St. Francis Hospital in Alexandria, LA from complications from pneumonia.

Born May 8, 1925 in Tyngsbouro, MA to Charles and Elisabeth Marinel and was married to Maudeline Hunt on Jan. 1979 In DeRidder LA. He completed High School plus many military and civil service training courses. He received numerous military commendations and awards including the Purple Heart and he was a 32nd degree Mason. He served in the US Navy, US Army, worked in an aircraft factory, was a licensed barber and a civil servant. He lived in Massachusetts, Virginia, Pennsylvania and Louisiana. He liked building birdhouses and do it yourself repairs.

He is survived by son, Laurence Marinel and wife Judith in California, daughter Carolyn Marinel and her Husband Thomas Warby in Virginia, son Byron Glen Midkiff in DeRidder, daughters, Starlene Midkiff in DeRidder, Jewell Huston and her husband Donnie Huston in Florida and Dorothy Spencer in DeRidder, twenty grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Maudeline Marinel; former wife, Ruby Barlup; son, Richard L. Marinel; brothers, Charles and Ted and sisters; Florence, Ruth, Winthrop, and Anna Marinel.

Funeral Service were December 16, 2010, 2:00 PM at Labby Memorial Funeral Home, 2110 Hwy. 171 S, DeRidder, LA. Interment was at Castor Cemetery, Leesville, LA with Masonic and Military honors at grave side.

Richard was all about Family, Country and Service.
