Born June 13, 1921, in Owensville, Mo., Mrs. Angell came to Alaska in 1952 with her husband, Jack L. Angell, and her two children.
Her family wrote: "Ann was a talented woman with a pioneer spirit. The family lived in a tent their first year in Anchorage as they built the family home on Boniface Parkway. She was a gardener par excellence, a seamstress, fantastic cook and a homemaker with tremendous creative abilities varying from woodworking, painting, baking and decorating. Nothing was beyond her skills. She was known as 'Mama Angell' to many young people, to whom she threw open her home in generosity.
"She was a woman of indomitable spirit and courage and is now dancing in heaven; one new Angell singing with the angels. Her 3-year-old great-granddaughter said, 'Grandma Angell is going to heaven, and when Jesus touches her she will run! Jesus is in charge in heaven!'
"A woman who loved Jesus Christ, Ann was a member of Trinity Christian Reformed Church while in Anchorage."
She lived for many years in Wasilla before returning to Missouri in 1976, moving to North Carolina and then back to Alaska for the past 11 years, where she resided at Chugiak Senior Center.
Mrs. Angell is survived by her daughter, Judith Green of Anchorage; grandchildren, Steven Green and his wife Amy of Anchorage, Jennifer McConnell and husband Terry of Rolla, Mo.; great-grandchildren, Dominic McConnell, Sophia Green and Aidan Green; family friends, Sharon Nahorney and Karen Fink of Anchorage; and many nieces and nephews.
