BRANDON -- Services for Alice Acy of Brandon will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Williams and Lord Funeral Home.

Mrs. Acy, 87, died Tuesday Nov. 17, 2009, at her home from pulmonary fibrosis.

She was born in Carroll County on Oct. 19, 1922, to the late Jarvis and Elizabeth Mosley Carpenter and resided in the Jackson area for the past 52 years. She was employed at Millsaps College for more than 39 years in food service and also worked at Penn's Fish House in Clinton for five years. She was a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She was known by most that loved her as their "other mama."

She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Acy; and a son, Harold Acy.

She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Stodghill of Brandon and Margaret Lynn Aldridge of Pensacola, Fla.; one son, Lamar Acy of Wesson; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Williams and Lord Funeral Home.

The Rev. Stephen Biddick will officiate at the services with the Rev. Rod Borders assisting. Pallbearers will be Thomas Jenkins, Eric Jenkins, Jev Veal, Doug Holeman, Wayne Holeman and Jamie Holeman. Honorary pallbearers will be Candice Parker, Dot Merchant, Shea Moss, Allen Acy, Ralph Aldridge, John Aldridge Jr, Mike Jenkins and Ricky Jenkins.

Burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Carroll County.
