Jack Murray Anderson, age 82, passed away in Heber City, UT on November 16, 2009.

Born April 20, 1927 to Ivan LeRoy and Vera Murray Anderson in Heber City, UT.

Jack was the oldest and only son of five children. Jack attended school in Heber City and worked for his father until the age of seventeen when he joined the Navy. He served in the Navy during World War II from 1944-1948.

Upon returning, he married Bette Louise Hansen Duke on August 19, 1948. They were married for almost fifty-six years, until Bette passed away on July 31, 2004. Together they had five children, Jack Jr., Bill, Elaine, Eric, and Alex.

Jack loved the outdoors. He loved to fish, hunt, snowmobile, and anything he could do while being outdoors. Jack was an extremely hard worker, and he enjoyed being a logger his entire life. Jack was also quite the businessman. He owned and operated Anderson Timber Co. for his entire working life.

After retiring, Jack and Bette loved to go for little get-a-ways. He really missed Bette after she passed away. He picked up the hobby of carving wood heads for everyone he knew. Jack made friends with everyone. He always said, "Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer." There weren't many who didn't know and like Jack. Jack had a good sense of humor and we will miss him!

He is survived by his sons, Jack, Bill, Eric (Kate), and Alex (Wendy); daughter, Elaine (Curt) Moser; sisters, Dorothy (Warren, deceased) Wilson, Kaye (Kenny) Herron, Vera (Mel) Ryan, and Julia (Wayne) Briggs; twelve grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife, Bette, granddaughter, and great-granddaughter.

Graveside Services will be held on Friday, November 20, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in the Charleston Cemetery, Charleston, UT. A viewing will be held from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. prior to the services at Olpin-Hoopes Funeral Home, 288 North Main Street, Heber City, UT.
