Horcasitas: Grant County lost one of its best known pioneer residents last Saturday in the death of Jose M. Horcasitas, 72, who passed away at the family home in Central following a heart attack. Mr. Horcasitas had a long and active life. His first job was with the Santa Rita Stores Co. Thereafter for many years he was an employee of Chino Mines Division, Kennecott Copper Corp., retiring in 1955. At the time of his death he was active in conducting a general store at Central. Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Adela Horcasitas; a son, William, Central; four daughters, Miss Elizabeth Horcasitas, Las Cruces; Mrs. Diego Gonzales, Santa Fe; Mrs. Sam Contreras, Central; Mrs. Marcos Mendez, Honduras, Central America; twelve grandchildren and three brothers, Rumaldo, Los Angeles; Mike, Hurley; Pablo, Central. Rosary services were held Tuesday evening at the Cox Mortuary chapel. Mass was said at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Santa Clara Catholic Church in Central, followed by burial in the Central cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Frank Duran, P.H. Duran, Eddie Duran, P.T. Horcasitas, Arthur and Gilbert Holguin.
