Joe W. Deiterman, 81, of West, passed away early Thursday morning, June 6, 1996 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Waco.

A rosary was recited at 10 a.m. June 8 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption by the Rev. Ed Karasek.

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:15 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption with the Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial followed at St. Mary's Cemetery near West.

Mr. Deiterman was born December 25, 1914 in Tours, the son of Albert and Crescenze Deiterman. He married Elizabeth (Betty) Prasifka on June 15, 1937 in Tours. He was an Insurance Agent for over 20 years with American National Insurance Company until he retired in 1970. He was also a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Deiterman of West; two sons, Anthony Deiterman of Houston and Thomas Deiterman of Ft. Meade, Florida; three daughters, Mary Ann Weaver of Waco, Catherine Daughett of Blue and Cynthia Cunningham of Metairie, LA; two brothers, Clement Deiterman of West and Bill Deiterman of Spring Valley; two sisters, Adeline Altus of Sheriden, OR, and Emma Holecek of Tours; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were David Weinberger, Richard Weaver, Mason Daughett III, Dalton Deiterman, Anthony Deiterman and John Deiterman.

Aderhold Funeral Home in West was in charge of arrangements.
