Requiem mass for John Melnar, 85, of West was celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, Rev. Earl Hedberg was celebrant. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery in West.
Rosary was held at 7 p.m. Monday at the Kotch Funeral Home Chapel.
Mr. Melnar died Saturday morning in a local hospital.
Survivors include two stepdaughters, Mrs. Louise Blahuta of Harlingen and Mrs. Julia Cepica of Portland, Ore.; a stepson, Henry Hrabal of Crowell; five step-children; five step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Ernest Zahirniak, Raymond Schroeder, Leo Klimitchek, Charles Blahuta, Alfons Mikuda and Henry Popp.
