Clyde E. Crowder, 78, Route 5, Mountain City, died Friday morning (April 14, 1989) in Watatauga County Hospital, Bonne, N.C.
A native of Johnson County, he was the son of the late Manley and Cora Starnes Crowder. He retired from Clinchfield Railroad and was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ruth H. Crowder, of the home; two sons, Troy Edward Crowder and Douglas Ray Crowder, both of Kingsport; two daughters, Mrs. Iris Deskins and Mrs. Annetta Trent, both of Kingsport; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; six brothers, Otis Crowder, Rayford, N.C., Wayne Crowder, Harold Crowder, Earl Crowder, Jim Crowder, all of Mountain City, and Delmar Crowder, Charlotte, N.C., four sisters, Mrs. Pauline Greer, Coeburn, VA., Mrs. Trilla Norris, Lenore, N.C., Mrs. Mamie Adams, Mountain City and Mrs. Dorothy Pardue, Highpoint, N.C.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Percy - Hux funeral Home in Mountain City.
Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Dennis Wilson officiating.
Burial will be in Rainbow Cemetery.
