Annie Bridges Abbott, age 98, of 12 Chateau Drive, Rome, formerly of West 11th Street, died Sunday morning, November 29th, 2009, at Winthrop Manor of Rome.

A native of Chattooga County, Georgia, Mrs. Abbott was born on October 15th, 1911, the daughter of the late Albert and Emma Cooper Bridges. She had spent the greater part of her life in Rome and for more than 16 years was associated with Murdock Grocery. Mrs. Abbott was a homemaker, was a member of Little Sand Mountain Baptist Church and attended Calvary Baptist Church of Rome. Mrs. Abbott was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 4 brothers and a grandchild. Mrs. Abbott was married on August 15th, 1936 to Ellis Hoyt Abbott who preceded her in death in 1986.

Survivors include a daughter, Martha Abbott Justiss and her husband, James of Cherryville, North Carolina; 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, Hugh Don and Pat Abbott of Rome and Edwin Hoyt Abbott of Rome; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Other survivors include half-brothers, half-sisters, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Annie Bridges Abbott will be held this (Tuesday) afternoon, December 1st, 2009, at 1 o'clock from the Parkview Chapel of Fred Talley's Funeral Home with the Dr. Frank Wood officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of Little Sand Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery near Summerville, GA.

Mrs. Abbott will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends today (Tuesday) from 12 noon until 1 o'clock.
