Isabelle Finlayson was just a 'wee one', about four years old, when she and her parents and siblings emigrated from Scotland to America in 1856. She was probably held up to the railing of the ship by her father William Finlayson and her mother Jeanette to see her new homeland. The family settled in farming country in Bristol (Yorkville), IL where she grew up along with her siblings: Thomas, Maggie, Jeanette, Minnie and Elizabeth. On October 5, 1871, she married Eugene Regan who had served in the Civil War, and together they raised 8 children, 4 boys and four girls in the community of Bristol. Isabelle died at the age of 65 in 1917.
