Widow of, Marion L. Via. Reportedly, Marion and Rachel had a stormy relationship (details omitted). They operated a gas station on Broad Street in Richmond. Allegedly, this was an outlet for their home distilled spirits. Well, this adds a little color to my family history. I understand they also had a restaurant in Richmond. Rachel and Marion purchased their home early and lived in it for many years. One of their sons still ocupies the home at this writing (2012). Rachel was seventh of ten children born to an illiterate farmer and his wife in Middlesex County. She, and most of her siblings, moved to Richmond looking for a better life.
