On Friday night, April 25th, at his late residence on West High Street, of paralysis, Joseph H. McCauley.
Mr. McCauley has been a resident of Lima for a number or years, and possessed on a genial and plesant manner, he formed a large circle of firends among our citizens. About six months ago he was stricken with paralysis and the phrase of "dying by inches" was literally true with him. His sufferings were intense and it soon became apparent to all that his end was near. He received the most devoted care and attention from his family and neightbors, nothing being undone that would conside to his relief. Durning his long illness he bore his suffering with martyr like patience, and he breathed his last at peace with the word and his God.
The funeral services were held at the Methodist Church on Sunday but the church being filled with friends and relatives. The remains were interred in Woodlawn Cemetery, and were followed to their last resting place by a large concourse of friends. He leaves a wife and a large famiy of children to mourn his loss. He was born in Chester County, Pa., Aug. 8th, 1820, being when he died in the 59th year of his age.
