Eleanor`s oldest brother was John Foster DULLES who performed as Secretary of State for President Eisenhower in the 1950`s at the peak of the Cold War. Dulles International Airport in Virginia is named in his honor.
Eleanor`s other brother was Allen Welsh DULLES, famous for service to the Country for heading the OSS during WWII and then the CIA during the Cold WAR.
Eleanor earned her PhD from Harvard in 1926 and worked for the U S State Department in the Diplomatic Corps where she met and collaborated with Dr. David Simon Blondheim. They married in 1932 and had a son, David. --Blondheim unexpectedly died 19 March 1934 leaving Eleanor a widow.
