Helen Bishir was born on May 7, 1917 in Lamberton, MN, the daughter of Dawson and Beryl (Gibson) De Long. She married Clyde Bishir at the Church of Christ in Lamberton. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Springfield and was President of the United Methodist Women and Chairperson of her Circle. Her first big hobby was rug weaving, which she did for 45 years, then she remodeled several homes in Springfield and enjoyed refinishing antique furniture. Gardening, flowers, and quilting were also priorities, and she loved to spend time with her 18 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren. Helen was also a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts, Hospital Auxiliary Board Member, and a St.John Lutheran Home volunteer for 26 years. Helen died on Thursday, March 3, 2005 at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield at the age of 87 years. She is survived by her children - Dale and wife Donna Bishir of South Haven, MN, Dean and wife Wilma Bishir of Minneapolis, MN, Kenneth Bishir and fiancée Rachel Kennedy of Waite Park, MN, Kay and husband Roger Moe of Springfield, MN, Mona and husband Clem Moreau of Faribault, MN, and Karen and husband Clinton Olson of Burnsville, MN; 18 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; sister - Dessie Battaglia of Lacey WA; a sister-in-law - Violet Sorenson of Lamberton, MN; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Clyde in 1977 a brother - Darrel De Long; and sisters - Ruth Harnack and Alice Anderson.
