Married in 1839 in Altenkirchen and emigrated to America in 1850 after basically being run out of Germany for political reasons. Came to Fearing Township in October 1851 as pastor of the First Evangelical Protestant Church (Berg Church) and was instrumental in building several of the German churches in Washington County. Other German families followed and settled in the Whipple area.
