"Funeral Services for John Franklin Tucker, 79, Colorful Pierce City resident were held at the Wessell Funeral home.Mr Tucker was born in Adair, Kentucky , May 18, 1860. He came to Pierce City in 1874 in a wagon train. He was a blacksmith here and was a fire chief, nightwatchman and city Marshall at various time. He could recall many interesting events in the town's early history. One of these was when he held the horse of Jesse James when it was being shod at the Hank Reed blacksmith shop over 50 years ago.He recalled that James stood in the door all the time with a gun, and when he left he gave Reed a $5 bill to be divided between the two.
