PIPER, Mark H., 501 Lafayette St., age 87, died Wednesday, June 12, 1963, at St. Joseph Hospital. Funeral services will be held at I p.m. Saturday from the Court Street Methodist Church, Dr. Jewell Smoot and Mr. William 0. Moulton officiating. Burial in Grace Lawn Cemetery. The body will be at the Algoe-Gundry Mortuary until noon Saturday, then at the church. Those desiring may make contributions to the Court Street Methodist Church Memorials.

Mr. Piper was born on a farm near Lake Fenton, on July 12 1875, the sort of Julius U. and Lorada [Penn] Piper.

He had been a member of Court Street Methodist Church since June 1894, serving as president of the Board of Trustees for many years and the past few years served as Honorary Trustee. Mr. Piper set up a trust fund for the church several years ago of which part of the funds were used last year to acquire a new memorial window.

He has been a member of the Flint Board of Realtors, Exchange Club, and Michigan Real Estate Association. Mr. Piper became a sponsor of the College and Cultural Center a few years ago.

He attended Bendle School and graduated from Flint High School in 1895. Class reunions have been held each 5 years and he was chairman of the past several reunions including the 65th held in 1960.

In 1900 he purchased a farm on North Saginaw St, which is now part of the City of Flint. Mr. Piper lived there until he platted what is now Belleview in 1920. He moved to Flint and entered the real estate business in 1931, starting the Piper Realty Co. with 2 sons, who predeceased him, James U. Piper and Howard Piper; his third son Mark H. Piper, Jr., is a member of the firm at this time.

Surviving are wife, Emily; daughter, Mrs. Ruth L. Siler; son, Mark H. Piper, Jr.; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; cousin, Mrs. Aldah B. Anderson.
