He was born Dec. 18, 1900, son of George and Emma York, two miles northeast of Melbourne. At the age of seven years, he moved one half mile from his birthplace and had lived there since.
He attended Melbourne High School and Jan. 10, 1923, he married Miriam Ayes in Marshalltown.
Survivors include the widow, a daughter, Patricia, a student at Drake University. and two brothers. Orval of State Center and Gaylon of Albion. He was preceded in death by Louis, Jr., who died in infancy, a son Bill, who died last fall and a sister, Mrs. Lloyd Gowdy of Santa Anna, Calif.
Mr York was a member of the Melbourne Methodist Church, the Farm Bureau, Master Corn Growers, MINA /Camp No. 3983 of Melbourne and was a trustee of Washington Township. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery near his home.
