The wagon train was organized by Dr. Crandall and set out by way of the Platte River. His wife joined him two years later in December of 1851 via the Isthmus of Panama.

Dr. John Riggs Crandall, church leader and businessman, arrives in Auburn with the "Peoria Pioneers".

Dr. J.R. Crandall, who has been making money and spending money and making times generally lively in this county for 30 years is building a house between town and the depot which will be the finest residence in Auburn.
Fruit farmer, no children.
