Benjamin Franklin Cox served briefly in the artillery coastguard in WWI in Florida. He was shot to death in the courtroom in Stephens County, Oklahoma. Ben lived on and off with his sister and her husband, Elbert and Clara Cox Herriott, in Chico until his death. Clara and Ben's brother, Ernest Cleveland Cox, were present when Ben was killed and Clara cradled him in her arms after the shooting. His wife was Thelma Broussard /Brasseau/Brusseaux from New Iberia Louisiana.
