Britt is Survived by his wife Bernell; sons, Mike and wife Judy, Ronnie and wife Sheryl; brother, Doyle and wife Janet; sister-in-law Virginia; six grandchildren, Britt III and wife Lori, Michelle Ziegelmann and husband Corey, Sandy Kelley, Amy Kelley, Ronald Kelley Jr. and wife Crystal, Shelley Kelley. He was also survived by 10 great grandchildren, several cousins, nieces and nephews and many friends.
Britton served in the navy in WWII and was honorably discharged on July 19th, 1946 after receiving Asiatic, Pacific and Victory Ribbons. Britton married Bernell on December 19, 1946 and soon after surrendered to the ministry. Later he attended Louisiana Baptist College in Pineville and East Texas Baptist College. He was called by many churches such as Hosston Baptist, Newton Baptist, Oak grove, and Bethany Baptist in West Monroe and others as a full time minister. In 1967 he came to Pine Island as interim pastor while working at other jobs to support his family. In all his years at Pine Island it grew out of a small frame building to a modern complex with his vision of a new sanctuary in 1976, along with addition of a classroom building and the remodeling of the old sanctuary. After over 25 years at Pine Island he retired but later went on to do mission work in places like Willow Alaska, and Encampment Wyoming. In June 1984 Britton made application to Waller County Judge A M McCaig to have an election for the incorporation of Pine Island.
Visitation will be Thursday, Nov. 5th from 5-8pm at Canon Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Friday, Nov. 6th at Waller Baptist Church at 10:00am followed by interment at Canon Mathis Cemetery.
