DECATUR -- Edna E. Helm, 95, of Decatur, was promoted to Glory at 4:55 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 25, 1997) in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Services will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in Brintlinger's Funeral Home with visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour before services on Wednesday. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials: Salvation Army.
Mrs. Helm was born in Wapella on March 23, 1901, the daughter of William and Elizabeth Pickrell Abell. She was a lifelong resident of Decatur, a member of the Salvation Army and a former member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. She served as Commander of the Navy Mothers Club of Decatur for several years and was a Home League member at the Salvation Army. She married Herschel Helm in Decatur on Feb. 19, 1920. He preceded her in death in 1985.
Surviving are her sons, Eugene and wife Nelda of Mount Zion; Edward and wife Dianna of Decatur; daughters, Emma Washburn and Betty Estes, both of Wapella; Arlene Cook and husband Jim of Pineville, La.; Peggy Green and husband Jim and Joyce Helm, all of Decatur; 22 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; five greatgreat-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, one daughter, two sisters and two brothers.
