Mr. W. J. Cantor

Mr. W.J. Cantor, of the New Middleton community, died at 7:00 p.m. Friday evening September 21, 2001, at the Cheatham County Health Care Center in Ashland City, at the age of 78 following a lengthy illness. Services were conducted at 3:00 p.m. Monday from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Edward L. Anderson officiated and burial followed in the Defeated Creek Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Cantor was married on August 14, 1948 to the former Annibell June Caylor. He was born in the Difficult community of Smith County on November 5, 1922 and was the son of the late George Allen and Belle Sircy Cantor.
Mr. Cantor retired in 1977 at age 55 as a truck driver for the Columbia Motor Express. His career with Columbia spanned over twenty years. An Army veteran of World War II, he saw overseas duty in Rhineland and Northern France.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of fifty three years are three children, Joanne Green and husband, Denny of Charlotte, Jerry Cantor and wife, Jenny of Ridgetop, Leslie Shearl of New Middleton; sister, Sue Helen Hines of Nashville; brother, Clyde Cantor of Bagdad community; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
