Lucinda Jane McDaniel was the fifth child born to Raymond and Lucretia McDaniel. The McDaniel Family was living in Pickens County, Alabama when she was born on April 8, 1859. Lucinda's family remained in Alabama while her father was serving in the 43rd Alabama Infantry Regiment during the Civil War. Shortly after the war, the family moved to Texas.
Lucinda was just sixteen when she married James Francis Jones on January 13, 1876, in Decatur, Texas. She was a homemaker and mother of 15 children. Only nine of her children survived their infancy. Lucinda and Frank were married for 68 years, and made their home in Alvord, Texas. In later life, she helped her husband and their son Henry run a shoe repair store in Alvord.
When she passed away in 1946, Lucinda was 87 years old; she is buried next to her husband in Jonestown Cemetery. She and Frank were much loved by their own children and grandchildren, as well as, their nieces and nephews. Their headstone was put in place by their nieces and nephews, which is why the inscription identifies them as "Aunt Lucinda" and "Uncle Frank".
She is the granddaughter of Albrittain Van Buren & Polly Ballard McDaniel.
Frank and Lucinda Jones had 15 children:
Lucretia Elizabeth
James L Jones
Margaret Callie
Malinda Jane
Mary Lena
Ada Mayme
Sarah F
William Henry
Ida May
six others died in infancy
