Wasilla resident Myrtle Allen, 70, died Nov. 30, 2006, at home while surrounded by her family. A funeral was held at the Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel in Wasilla. The Rev. Dennis Hotchkiss officiated. Friends of the family were invited. She was buried at Angeles Memorial Park next to her husband.

Mrs. Allen was born Myrtle Lou White on Sept. 6, 1936, in Canton, N.C. She was married to the late Harold Allen Sr. and they raised 10 children. Mrs. Allen and her family moved to Alaska in 1976. Before her early retirement in the mid '80s, she worked as a real estate agent. Her family wrote: "Family was the most important part of her life, and she had an enormous amount of love for them all. She will be greatly missed and forever remembered. We find solace in knowing she is at peace."

Survivors include her mother, Georgia White of Texas; children and their spouses, James and Carolyn Cloyd, Patricia and Nathan Brown of Texas, Peggy Escamilla of Wasilla, Harold Jr. and Finnia Allen of Texas, Rhonda and Joe Soares of Kenai, Sondra Cummins and Greg Clay of Wasilla, Tammie and Michael Anderson of Anchorage, Sheila and Craig Moseley of Wasilla, and Susan Woellmer of Wasilla; son-in-law, David Kraybill of Oregon; 26 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, H.J. White; sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Norbert Wagner of Texas; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard and Yen Allen; sisters-in-law and their spouses, Debbie and Jim Neiboer and Sandy and John Pitchford, all of Florida; sister-in-law, Jean Thiess of Nevada; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Allen Sr.; daughter, Donna Kraybill; granddaughter, Breanna Woellmer; father, Glenn White; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Neal and Marilyn Allen; and sister-in-law, Aline White. Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
