In terms of Madison Green Walker (p-126 in Dave Chapman's book) ) it states that Dr. Walker was instrumental in saving the life of former slave and abolitionist Frederick Douglass, who was attacked by a mob when he spoke in Pendleton, IN as follows from the "Historical Sketches and Reminiscences of Madison Co.,IN

"Douglass was being attacked by a brutal ruffian who was swinging a heavy bar of iron over the head of the prostrate man (Douglass) when Dr. Walker, a very powerful man, thew his whole weight against the murderous villain and hurled him away just as Neal Hardy, also a brave and powerful man, and Edwin Fussel gathered around the fallen orator and drove the mobocrats away;"--- Dr Walker retired from the practice of medicine in 1862 and around 1874 he moved to MO. He died on April 29,1875 in Jasper Co.,MO. Mary Ann Walker was living in Jasper Co.,MO with her daughter Mary Johnson and her husband in 1880. In 1900 she was living with her daughter Martha Hough and family in Jasper Co.*
