Janice was born on Sept. 20, 1950, in Oak Ridge to parents Ray and Martha Honeycutt McGinnis.
She was a member of Highland View Church of Christ, where she taught Sunday school prior to her illness. She was also a member of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society where she earned Mother of The Year in 1994.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Dennis Connelly of Oak Ridge; daughter and son-in-law, Michael and Robin Gaus, also of Oak Ridge; son Steve Connelly, of Pinehurst, N.C.; and father and stepmother, Ray and Pat McGinnis, of Oak Ridge; and her brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Laura McGinnis, of Oxford, Ala. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jessica and James Gaus, of Oak Ridge; and numerous other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Martha McGinnis.
We as a family wish to express our deepest and most heartfelt thanks and love to her nurses, Susan Poe for 17 years, Jeri Mulvey for 11 years, and Tania Cook for eight years of love and care. You are indeed family to us, and always will be. We rejoice with the angels that she is in Heaven with her Lord.
The funeral service will be held at Highland View Church of Christ on Tuesday evening at 8 p.m. with Mr. Curtis McClain officiating.
The graveside service will be held at Oak Ridge Memorial Park on Wednesday at 11 a.m. The family requests that memorials be in the form of donations to Highland View Church of Christ Building Fund, 138 Providence Road, Oak Ridge, TN 37830.
