Mary married _____ Barefield. The person listed on the death certificate as her husband was actually her brother, John Spinks Barfield. Mary Barfield was 90 when she died and had been widowed so long that no one seemed to know who her husband was. She probably married her cousin or other relative, who was also a Barefield. I have been unable to find her in the 1870 or 1880 census in order to identify her husband.
The names Barfield/Barefield seemed to be used interchangeably in the 1800s by this family.
Per the 1910 Wise County, TX, census, Mary reported she had one child only, Maurice K. Barfield (1869-1955).
