Betty Jo Hendricks Coleman, age 73, of Water Valley, MS was taken home to heaven on Friday, January 15, 2010. She was a life long resident of Water Valley, MS and a 30 year employee of Borg-Warner. She was born August 1, 1936 to the late James Alton and Mary Davis Avant in Water Valley, MS. Betty was a member of the "Birthday Girls" group who celebrated life with joy and frequently attended gospel singing concerts. She was a member of O'Tuckalofa Baptist Church in Yalobusha County.
A visitation is planned for Monday, January 18, 2010 from 6 until 8 PM at Seven Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 11:00 AM in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Dan Dickerson officiating. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley, MS with David Spaulding, David Cade, Jim Cade, Pete Eubanks, and Sonny Avant serving as pallbearers.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Spaulding of Water Valley, MS and her husband, David; a son, Larry D. Hendricks of Moriarty, NM and his wife Donna; seven sisters, Pat Cade of Water Valley, MS, Brenda Avant of Batesville, MS, Nina Pendleton of Franklin, IN, Patricia Waldo and Tommie Foster of Greenwood, IN, Linda Richards of Hallsville, TX, and Jeri Riley of Groverton, TX; two brothers, Billy Avant and Clinton Avant of Water Valley, MS; three grandchildren, Michael Hendricks, Brent Sheeks, and Bryan Sheeks, and three great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Buck Hendricks; three sisters, Beverly Davis, Mary Lorene Avant and Joyce Irene Avant, and one brother, James Avant.
Memorials may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation in memory of Betty Coleman.
