LeRoy Francis Ysen 77 of Shevlin, MN died on Saturday, April 11, 2009 at the Cornerstone Nursing and Rehab Center in Bagley, Minnesota.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Clearwater Lutheran Church in Shevlin, MN with Pastor Melody Kirkpatrick officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Clearwater Lutheran Cemetery in Shevlin, MN. Military rites will be accorded by the Irvin Blix American Legion Post No. 16 of Bagley. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley assisted with the arrangements.

LeRoy was born October 13, 1931 in Shevlin, MN the son of Bennie T. and Thea (Johnson) Ysen. LeRoy was a lifetime resident of Clearwater County and farmed south of Shevlin his entire life. His joy and his life's blood was invested in his farm and his family. LeRoy was a dairyman and raised beef cattle for the most part; but early in his career he logged and raised potatoes.

In 1953 LeRoy served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea until his discharge in 1955. He then returned to Korea as a civilian in December of 1955 for a personal reason. LeRoy had found the love of his life halfway around the world. LeRoy and Chung Ja Yoo were married on January 31, 1956 in Inchon, South Korea. They returned to Shevlin that same year and proceeded to build a farm and family. LeRoy spent most of his time outdoors and especially enjoyed deer hunting.

LeRoy was a lifetime member of the Clearwater Lutheran Church and served on the Shevlin Township Board for several years during the 1970's

He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife, Chung Ja (June) of Shevlin; daughter Debra (Bruce) Melrose of Minneapolis; grandson David Ysen Melrose of Minneapolis. LeRoy is also survived by his best friend, German Shepherd "Happy"

He was preceded in death by his parents; son Steven; and all his siblings including sisters Gladys Edman, Bernice Peterson, and brothers Tim Ysen and Melvin Ysen.
