She was born June 26, 1921 in Dresden, Germany to Maria Meslik Sadowski.
As a young lady she enjoyed working on the farm with animals and growing a garden. In 1956, she came to Salt Lake City with her son to be with her mother, sister, and brother.
She married Stephen Westen Bates in 1958. She enjoyed boating and the outdoors. She enjoyed good cooking and taking care of other people. She had a wonderful daughter-in-law Vicki which she loved dearly. She had two granddaughters, Kimberly and Debbie, and two great-granddaughters Amber and Ashley.
She is preceded in death by her husband, mother, sister, and brothers. She is survived by her son Peter (Vicki) Mesli; two granddaughters Kim and Debbie; and two great-granddaughters Amber and Ashley. She will be dearly missed.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at 12:00 p.m. at Memorial Estates Mortuary, 5850 South 900 East. Friends and family may visit one hour prior to the services.
Interment: Tooele City Cemetery.
