L. Gordon Evans, 78, of 356 Summerhaven Drive, East Syracuse, died at Iroquois Nursing Home. He retired as a procurement analyst from the Air Force, Kansas City, MO in 1978. He was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church, Fayetteville. He was a life-member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of the National Association Retired Federal Employees. He served in the Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theater. Gordon loved people and had a great sense of humor. He valued his family above all else.
Survivors: His wife of 56 years, Barbara Betelak Evans; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and David Scheibel of Jamesville; a son and daughter- in-law, Michael and Loretta Evans of Hudson, OH; three brothers, Edward of Sherrill, Donald and Howard both of LaFayette; granddaughters, Kristen Scheibel of Dover, NH, Rebecca Trevisani of DeWitt, Karen Scheibel of Philadelphia, PA, Amy Tuite of DeWitt, and Tara Evans of Hudson, OH; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services: 9:15 a.m. at Eaton-Tubbs-Schepp Funeral Home and 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, Fayetteville. Burial, Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Fayetteville. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home, 7191 E. Genesee St., Fayetteville.
