Jefferson L. "Jay' Brockway
(July 8, 1927 - March 9, 1998)
Vancouver - Jefferson L. "Jay" Brockway, 74, Vancouver, a longtime Vancouver and resident of Ocean Park, died March 9, 1998, at his home in Vancouver.
Mr. Brockway was born July 8, 1927, in Billings, Montana, and had lived in Vancouver area for more than 55 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the Elks, Eagles and Moose Lodges, 40 and 8, the American Legion and the National Rifle Association.
He had spent time on the Penninsula of the Clam Tide Motel and R.V. Park in Ocean Park for more than 15 years. Mr. Brockway had owned and operated Triangle Distributing Company, a subsidiary of the Standard Oil Company, for 33 years in Vancouver, Camas, and Amboy and retired in 1982.
He enjoyed fishing, clam digging, bowling, traveling and spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends. He will be greatly missed.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Eynes; two children, Jeffrey L. Brockway and Kathi J. Virgin; nine grandchildren; a brother, William (Bill) Brockway Jr. of Vancouver; a sister, Violet Robinson of Hillsboro, Oregon, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.
A memorial service was held Friday, March 13, 1998, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery, in Vancouver.
