Obit.—The funeral of the Rev. J. B. Haralson who died yesterday morning at the Confederate soldiers home near Little Rock, was conducted this afternoon at 1:30 o’clock from the residence of his granddaughter, Mrs. Walter Hemmert, at 1705 East Firth avenue, by the Rev. W. C. Wood, pastor of the Ohio Street Baptist church. The interment will be at Fitzhugh cemetery near Sulphur Springs.
The deceased was a native of Alabama and was 78 years old. He entered the Civil war at the age of 20 and served with the 14th Alabama regiment. He was wounded in the seven day battle near Richmond. He was married in 1863 to Miss Sophronia Furlow of Georgia, who survives him. He was the father of a large family but only one daughter, Mrs. Ben Wilson of this city, survives, but he leaves a large number of grand children and great grandchildren. He served as a Baptist minister for 43 years and made his home for many years at Sulphur Springs and during his long service he endeared himself to a great number of people of Jefferson county to whom he ministered. Being too old for active work he went to the Confederate home about six months ago and his last days were spent with his comrades of the war between the states.
