Helen Ward Urquhart lived in the Mobile community for most of her 88 years. She served and contributed in the lives of her family, her many friends and in her long teaching career. She died at her home on November 9, 2009. She was born on February 12, 1921, to Nancy and Soloman Ward in Wilmer, Alabama. She graduated from Murphy High School, and from Bllue Mountain College in Mississippi. After a teaching career of more than three decades, she retired from Mobile County Public School System. She was preceded in death by her husband, Q. D. Urquhart. She is survived by nephews, J. Douglas Ward of Mobile, Wayne Ward of Wilmer, and Dwight Ward of Mobile; nieces, Dorothy Fore of Nashville, TN, Sandria Ward of Houston, TX, and Marilyn Patrickis of Chapel Hill, NC, and faithful caregivers Vernell Marisett and Marisa McClain. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home on Thursday, November 12, 2009, at 12:00 noon. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Wilmer Cemetery.
