Richard Colter, 51, of Plainville, passed away on Monday, November 09, 2009 after a 6 year battle with cancer. Born on April 5, 1958 in Southington, he was the beloved husband of Patricia (Belanger) Colter.


He worked at Aetna Life and Causality for 15 years, most recently at the Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain Campus.


He is survived by his mother Dolores Colter of Plainville; his daughter Nicole Colter-Polchies and her husband David of Watertown; son Brian Colter of Bristol; his sister Jacqueline Posadas and husband James of Plainville; his brother Randall Colter and wife Dena of Southington; his grandchildren Caedon Polchies (3) and Makenna Polchies (2) along with Mika (4), Caylei (2) and Seth (1); along with several nieces and nephews. He also left behind his lifelong friends Michael Sundberg of Plainville and Thomas Sawicki of Farmington. He was predeceased by his father John Colter and brother Michael Colter.


A celebration of Richard's life will be held on Friday, November 13, 2009 at 10 a.m. at Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad St., Plainville. All may gather from 9-10 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at West Cemetery, Plainville. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2009 from 5-8 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the Hospital of Central CT, New Britain Campus, P.O. Box 100, New Britain, CT 06050.
