DEATH OF PAUL FELLERS

FATHER OF MRS. ANNETTE GIERHART DIES IN KANSAS

He Was an Old-Time Resident of This County - Funeral Services Here Sunday


Paul Fellers, an old-time resident of Jasper county, father of Mrs. Annette Gierhart of this city, died about noon today at the home of his son, Harley Fellers, at Melvern, Kansas.
A telegram sent at 1:40 o'clock this afternoon by Mrs. Gierhart brought the word of his death. The exact hour of Mr. Fellers' demise was not given.
Mrs. Gierhart left Wednesday for Melvern, called because of Mr. Fellers' condition.
The telegram received by the Ulmer-Drake Undertaking Company stated that the body would be brought to Carthage for burial and will arrive at 6 o'clock Sunday morning. It also advised that the funeral would be held some time Monday, from the Ulmer-Drake Funeral home, the exact hour of the funeral to be fixed later.
The family requests that no flowers be sent, the telegram stated.
Mr. Fellers was about 86 years old. He and his family came to Carthage in 1886 and for years resided on a farm northeast of Carthage. About 15 years ago they moved to Colorado, where Mrs. Fellers died a few years ago. About five years ago, shortly after Mrs. Fellers death, Mr. Fellers went to Melvern, Kansas to reside.
Mrs. Fellers' body was brought back to Carthage for burial.
Mr. Fellers was a life-long member of the Methodist Episcopal Church and an active worker in that organization.
Surviving are five sons and three daughters, also two sisters. The sons are Harley, Ortis, Oswald and Emerson Fellers, all residing near Melvern, and Thurlow Fellers of Aberdeen, South Dakota. Mrs. Lillian Halst, of Louisville, KY.; Mrs. Sam Hartman of Pittsburgh, PA., and Mrs. Gierhart are the daughters. Mrs. Sarah Wagner, of Noblesville, Indiana is a sister, the other sister residing in Finley, Ohio.
