McMILLAN "DEACON" BAGGETT Mac Baggett of Decatur, GA, born March 15, 1921, passed away on July 2, 2009.

Mac was born in Gonzales, Florida and graduated from Tate High School. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1939. He was decorated for service during World War II, (including a Purple Heart) and the Korean War. He retired as a Chief Warrant Officer 3 in 1960. He worked for Columbus Iron Works and Muscogee Iron Works before joining the Lovable Company in 1965.

In 1975, he was named the International Plant Engineer of the Year by the American Institute of Plant Engineers. He retired from Lovable in 1984. He then worked for Tower Place and taught plant engineering classes. His greatest pleasures came from gardening, traveling, and enjoying his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He leaves a legacy of honesty, integrity, commitment, and love of family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Myron Baggett & Addie Dulaney, brother Malcolm, sisters Margaret Bell, Dorothy Morris, and Marvelle Jones, all of Pensacola, FL, wife of over 60 years Claire Snipes of Boston, and wife of 2 years Cossette Underwood, of Atlanta. He is survived by a sister, Agnes Root of Ozark, Alabama, a son, McMillan C. Baggett of Decatur, daughters Dorothy Jorgensen of Kennesaw and Elizabeth Rein of Duluth, six grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.

A memorial Service will be held at 10:30 am July 13 at Atlanta Unity Church 3597 Parkway Lane, Norcross, Georgia 30092. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the USO, PO Box 96860, Washington, D.C., 20077-7677, web site USO.org. He donated his body to Emory University Hospital.
