Herbert Allen Dickerson

Herbert Allen Dickerson, 68, a farmer of Goodman, died of respiratory failure Wednesday, April 13 at District Two Community Hospital in Durant.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 16 at Seneasha Methodist Church. Officiating ministers were Rev. Nell Makie, Rev. R. C. Gray, Rev. J. R. Hall and Rev. Ken Boyette. Interment was in Seneasha Cemetery in Attala County with Southern Funeral Home of Durant in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Dickerson, an Attala county native, was a member of Seneasha Methodist Church. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of the Top Attala Hunting Club and the East Portable Hunting Club.

Survivors include: wife, Eva A. Dickerson of Goodman; sons, Waverly Wayne Dickerson of Demopolis, Ala., Don Holden Dickerson and Bobby Lewis Dickerson, both of Goodman, Herbert Allen “Jimmy” Dickerson of Sallis, and Charles Rufus Dickerson of Kosciusko; daughter, Janie Allene Braswell of Morgan City; brother, Mike Lamar Dickerson of Jackson; sisters, Tommie Quarles of Kenna, La., Nancy D. Jones and Inez Garvey of Goodman; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Active pallbearers were Randy Dickerson, Lavern Ables, Jack Burrell, Jr. McCrory, Bill Ables, and Dallas McCrory.

Honorary pallbearers were Charles Smith, Jr., Dr. Fletcher Shrock, Dr. William Ramsey, Dr. Billy Wayne Long, men of Seneasha Church, members of the Top Attala Hunting Club.
