ALFRED GREEN AGAN
Alfred Green Agan, second son of Lewis and Letitia Agan, was born in Orange county, Indiana, June 28, 1862, and departed this life at his home west of Columbia, Iowa, Feb. 2, 1945, at the age of 82 years, 7 months and 4 days.
Coming to Iowa in 1885, he taught school for several years.
On March 5, 1891, he was married to Ella Jolliffe and to this union five children were born: Oscar, at home; Ainsworth, of San Diego, Calif; Mrs. Edith Frye, of Bussey; Shelby, of Des Moines; and Willard of Newport, Wash.
Surviving are his widow, their five children, son-in-law, eighteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren; also two brothers, J. N., of Los Angeles, Calif. and W. E. of Glenwood, Iowa, and one sister, Mrs. Dora Jones, of Columbia. There are also several nieces and nephews.
Three brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.
He was a kind and faithful husband and father; a good neighbor and his friends are many.
Funeral services were held at the Columbia church Monday, Feb. 5 at 2 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. Finch, of Killduff. Interment was in the Oakdale cemetery.
