Wife of Thomas Barker Harned. Daughter of Michael Real and Rachel Martin.

Elizabeth was born near Chadwell Station, Tennessee. She was converted and joined the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1841, in her own house. She later joined this church at a preaching place where Harned Chapel now stands in Orange Co., Indiana. She lived a devoted life and a happy death. During her illness, which lasted only about one week, she talked calmly of death; being asked by some of her children if she felt any fear of death, she answered,"He will my shield and portion be as long as life endures." Speaking of her son William - a member of the Indiana Conference - she said, "Tell him I died in the faith." She was then asked by one of her sons if she was ready to go and she answered,"Ready, ready, ready" and soon after she fell asleep in Jesus.

(Her parents were Michael and Rachel Real, who both died in 1859. Her father was a noted judge according to her son, William's obituary. I have found their last name spelled Real and Reel. On Elizabeth's wedding record it shows Real, so that is what I have used).
