Venna Burnside Vance, age 73, our beloved wife and mother passed away on March 25, 1994 in Provo, Utah following a sudden illness.
She was born on February 16, 1921 in Logan, Utah the daughter of Nathaniel Mason and Fannie Bills Burnside.
She married Clair W. Vance on December 22, 1945 in Elko, Nevada.
She was a graduate of Wasatch Academy in Mt. Pleasant, Utah and attended Brigham Young University.
She worked in the defense plant in Sand Diego, California before joining the U.S. Marine Womens Reserve in 1942, where she was stationed in Arlington, Virginia.
After the war, she graduated from beauty school in East St. Louis.
Returning to Provo she was active in the Newcomers Club, the J.C. Wives and was a member of the LDS Church.
Moving then to Orem to raise their family.
She was always a room mother and active in the PTA.
She enjoyed bridge, bowling, golf, gardening and camping.
Her life has been devoted to her children, her husband and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband and four daughters: Mrs. Roger (Stevie) Larson, of Sandy, Utah; Mrs. Mike (Cathy) Ford, Julie Van Wagenen, both of Orem, Utah; Mrs. Paul (Kelly) Thompson, of Benicia, Calif.; one brother, two sisters: Wesley Burnside, of Provo, Utah; Helen Neff, of Sun City, Ariz.; Mrs. Jo (JoAnn) Conte, of Los Angeles, Calif.; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Vicky and three brothers.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 1994 at 2 p.m. at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, 1000 South State, Mt. Pleasant.
Friends may call at the Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 East Center on Monday evening 6-8 p.m. or at the cemetery on Tuesday.
Full military rites will be accorded at the cemetery.
