Lillian P. Gordon Foote, 92, a former resident of Churubusco, died at 5:50 p. m. on Saturday, December 6, 2008, at the Provena Sacred Heart Home in Avilla. She had been a resident there since 2001.

Mrs. Foote was born on October 23, 1916 in Chrisman, Illinois, a daughter of Felix David and Rose (Meeks) Amolsky. As a young girl she moved to Fort Wayne and lived there until moving to Churubusco in 1949. She moved to LaVerna Terrace in Avilla in 1988 and lived there until entering the nursing home.

She had been previously employed at the former VanOrman Hotel in Fort Wayne, and retired in 1979 as an inspector for Essex Wire in Fort Wayne after six years.

She was a member of St. John Bosco Catholic Church in Churubusco and its Rosary Sodolity. She was also a eucharistic minister and a member of the St. Vincent dePaul Society.

Her first marriage took place on November 26, 1936 to George W. Gordon, Sr. He preceded her in death on July 24, 1967. On November 25, 1971 she married Willard J. Foote. He died on November 6, 1992.

Surviving are her children Thomas J. (Sharon) Gordon of Fort Wayne, Michael J. (Virgie) Gordon of Culman, Alabama, Carolyn (Willard) Shively of Columbia City, Nancy (Monte) Gaff of Churubusco, George William Gordon, Jr. of Columbia City, and Robert N. (Mona) Gordon of Churubusco; a step-daughter Jackie Brown of Hudson; a son-in-law John Cazier of Rome City; 33 grandchildren, 83 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren; and several step-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and two husbands, she was preceded in death by a daughter Mary Cazier; four step-children Alton Foote, Jr., Phyllis Weaver, Martha Longardner, and David Foote; and by a sister.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a. m. Wednesday at St. John Bosco Catholic Church in Churubusco with Father Danney Pinto, the celebrant.

The family will receive friends at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco on Tuesday from 2-4 and from 6-8 p. m. The Rosary will be recited at 8 p. m. Tuesday at the mortuary.

Interment will be in the Ege Catholic Cemetery, Noble County.
