Mrs. Emil A. Sabel Sr., 73, a resident of Fourth Street Road, Town of Empire, died at 8 a.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Lafayette, Ind., where she was taken after becoming ill Nov. 19 while en route to Florida.
She was born June 25, 1896, near Blackshear, Ga., a daughter of Hiram and Anne Dixon Davis. The former Sarah Nealon Davis was married to Emil A. Sabel on Feb. 1, 1919, in Pierce County, Ga.
They came to Fond du Lac in 1922 and she was a member of First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Sabel is survived by her widower; three daughters, Mrs. Frank Maier of Ocala, Fla., and Mrs. Martin E. PUtz and Mrs. Carlyle Schubert, both of the city; two sons, Emil Jr., and William Sabel, both of the city; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Daisey Tanner of Fort Meyers, Fla., Mrs. Nell Goodwin of Gainesville, Fla., Mrs. Maybel Reddy of Buford, S.C., and Mrs. Farrel Crews of Evernes, Fla.; and three brothers, Carelton and Elsie Davis, both of Valdosa, Ga., and Preaster Davis of Waycross, Ga.
She was preceded in death by five sisters and one brother.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Zacherl Funeral Home with the Rev. Jonathan Nielsen officiating. Burial will be in Rienzi Cemetery.
Friends may call after 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
