Carl L. Hellweg, of 1100 3rd St., died Monday, Feb. 1, 1999, at his home. Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Camanche Chapel of Snell-Zornig Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Camanche. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home, with a Masonic service at 8 p.m. Mr. Hellweg owned and operated Carl's Barber Shop in Camanche for 27 years and Carl's Sunoco Station for six years in Camanche. He also worked eight years for the city of Camanche. He retired in 1991. He was born Aug. 20, 1926, in Camanche. He married Doris Merkel in 1945 in Camanche. During World War II, he served in the Merchant Marine and the Army. Memorials may be made to Samaritan Hospice or St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Camanche. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Linda Kreuder, Albany, Ill., Ginger Noble, Charlotte, Doris "Dorie" Stoller, Clinton, Rita Hill, Rogers, Ark., Tina Moes, Dubuque, Terri Smithson, Miles, and Carla Dudley, Omaha, Neb.; 12 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and sisters, Mathilde Burman, Clinton, and Elva Thompson, Camanche.
