Ophelia Mabel Stockard, 74, an 18-year Newark resident, died Wednesday, May 6 at Northwest Hospital in Fort Worth, following a long illness.

Services were Friday at Newark Church of Christ, where she was a member. Bert Perry, minister of the church, officiated with burial in Crafton Cemetery.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Tony, Tim, Blake and Allan Stockard, Jeff and Mike Stewart, Bob Dederick and Bobby Cowling.

Mrs. Stockard was born June 6, 1906 in Bowie. She married Troy Stockard, Nov. 11, 1921 in Park Springs.

Other survivors include: sons, Hollis Stockard of Fort Worth, Ray Stockard of Amarillo and Carroll Stockard of Rhome; daughters Venita Dederick of Bedford and Marjorie Stewart of Hurst; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Arrangements were made by Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.
