Peter Bryant is the son of Ambrose Bryant and Frances (Dickerson) Bryant. He was born in Virginia and moved to Hancock County, Illinois about 1854. He married Lucretia Elizabeth Wright in Floyd County, Virginia, on 14 Dec 1839. They were the parents of the following children: Louisa Elizabeth, Josiah/Joseph, Nancy Elizabeth, James "Riley", Ambrose G., Mary Ellen, Martha Ellen, Sarah A., John Thomas, and Minnie Francis. He died sometime before 13 Dec 1864.

Note: Old Brick Church cemetery was neglected for many years. It has only recently been restored. Many gravestones were lost, including those of Peter and Lucretia Elizabeth (Wright) Bryant. Family history indicates Peter was buried there and his property was very close to the cemetery. There is a local newspaper article mentioning Lucretia's burial at Old Brick Cemetery.
