Last Rites Held for Mrs. Elsa Hahnke

Mrs. Elsa B. Hahnke, lifelong resident of Schulenburg, succumbed Thursday, October 18, at Parkview Manor in Weimar following an illness of nine weeks. At her passing, she had attained the age of 82 years, 3 months and 10 days.
Funeral services were held October 21 at 9 a.m. from Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Chapel. Rev. Walter R. Simpson Jr. officiated and burial was in Old High Hill Cemetery.
Casketbearers were Tommy Brown, J.J. Bucek, Erwin C. Blaschke, I.W. Speckels, Melvin Svrcula and Sam Barrington.
Mrs. Hahnke, daughter of the late Christian and Johanna Borchers, was born July 8, 1891 at Schulenburg. On October 4, 1910, she was united in marriage to Gus A. Hahnke in La Grange and the couple settled in Schulenburg. She was a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ.
Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Lillie H. Bahnsen of Weimar; a son, Clinton A. Hahnke of Schulenburg; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two sisters, Miss Emmie Borchers and Miss Laura Borchers and two brothers, Fritz and Henry Borchers.
