Sarah Ann Shackleford married Rev. John Henry Aust on April 17, 1859. He was born in Tennessee on October 19, 1840, a son of John C. and Elizabeth Aust. John and Sarah were married by his uncle, Rev. Abraham Castleman, a minister of the Christian Campbellite Church. John Aust became a minister in the same denomination and carried on his duties as a pastor throughout the Miller County region.

John and Sarah (Shackleford) Aust reared their children on a farm in the Fairview community and lived the remainder of their lives on the family farm. Rev. John Aust died 9 March 1912 and Sarah Ann livevd until Aug. 10, 1928 when she died at the advanced age of 93. Both are buried at Livingston Cemetery (also known as Castleman Cemetery), which sits on a green hillside overlooking the Barren Fork Creek to the north.
